Broadcast - 18 Oct 2026

By the time you hear this on Sunday morning we will be half way through this year’s JOTA/JOTI two day event! If you would like to assist and volunteer some of your time you still have until 3pm. Just drop in to the NTARC Club rooms, at the Rocherlea Scout Hall, Archer St. Or if you prefer, listen out and respond to any CQ JOTA calls as I am sure we will need some local contacts to chat with the participants on air in case we can’t link up to other Scout venues.

Last Wednesday evening was our bi-monthly General Meeting, for a change in proceedings, our Education Officer Peter VK7PD, thought he might add a bit of a challenge to the evening. Just prior to the meeting Peter presented us with an electronics problem, which was very neatly drawn up on the white board. Don’t panic, it’s not the sort of problem that involves Thevenin’s Theorem or anything like that, it relied on logical thinking and the most basic grasp of measuring a resistor with a multimeter. The logical thought process to solve the problem was to be discussed later in the evening, this gave us the entire meeting to cogitate over any possible solutions. I am not going to disclose what the problem or the solution was, as it will be worth presenting to other members at the next club technical night, or even Friday morning tea….. it might even get our brains ticking over. Hi-Hi. Apart from the actual problem, it was fascinating to watch an accomplished educator, such as Peter, guide and enlighten his students when on a journey of discovery. Needless to say it was well received and Peter has been booked in for another “floor show” next meeting, and maybe even a technical night, thank you Peter.

As usual pictures will be available on the NTARC Web site under “Blogs” for this broadcast. NTARC Blogs. That is assuming we are allowed to publish them.
